Fix Outlook server not connecting with infohouze solution

  3. Ensure that there is excellent network connectivity: Slow network or no network could be the cause of the outlook not connecting.

Another cause for Outlook server not connecting to the network could be that the server that runs Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable:

You are required to check Microsoft Exchange server connection. Follow these steps to check if the server that runs Microsoft Exchange Server remains unavailable:

  1. In the Outlook only, go to the Tools menu.
  2. Select Accounts.
  3. In the left pane, observe the Exchange account. The indicator blinks orange if there has been issue with the connection.

To troubleshoot this error, you are required to contact the Exchange administrator and the administrator lets you know if the account requires an encrypted channel. If this is the cause of the problem, all you need to do is verify the setting for the channel:

  1. Go to the Tools menu.
  2. Select Accounts.
  3. Select Account that you can find in the left pane of the dialog box of the Accounts.
  4. Choose Advanced.
  5. In the Advanced section, choose the Server tab.
  6. Go to Microsoft Exchange and Directory Service.
  7. Under the option Microsoft Exchange and Directory Service, you need to select the check box of Use SSL to connect.

If the data files(.pst or .ost) in the Outlook are susceptible to error, then, these could be the reason of connectivity issue, so, to handle this issue, you need to go through following steps to get connected:

  1. Close outlook.
  2. Go to the Control Panel.
  3. Find the Mail icon.
  4. In the Resulting window,  click on Data Files.
  5. In the list, search for the Data file.
  6. Click on Open File location.
  7. Check for the data file with extension .ost and .pst
  8. Rename the file that has the extension .ost to .OLD. however for the file starting ending with the extension .pst, you need not to do anything.
  9. Close the windows.
  10. Open Outlook.

However, for data file ending with the extension .pst, you can go through following steps and run Scanpst on the file:

  1. Use Windows Explorer and search for scanpst.exe.
  2. Once you have found the file, all you need to do is double click on the file and run the application accordingly.
  3. In the resulting window, click on Browse.
  4. Look for .pst file.
  5. Click on Start.

This may take significant amount of time depending on the size of the data file. Also, you are required to click on the Repair button if scanpst spots an error. Once repair has been done, you are required to close the Scanpst and reopen Outlook. Try the above steps for the error of outlook server not connecting.
